The best people to serve the local church, on local mission, are local people. Yet with most of the training and ministry opportunities being self funded, this poses a big problem for workers who are from and want to minister to, others on council estates.
The majority of council estate Christians applying for self funded internships and ministry roles, are first generation Christians, meaning that they don't have a network of Christian or church contacts to seek support from.
Many also fail at fitting the traditional mould for Christian ministry and struggle with the application process and are often rejected for funding because they are seen as to big a risk.
This is why Medhurst Ministries is committed to raising funds to specifically support indigenous, council estate Christians, who may struggle to find support elsewhere.
Whether you would like to financially support the work of Medhurst Ministries or if you would like to apply for funding, we would love to hear from you.
